This journey begins with a drive along the West Coast Road,
to the northern Town of Portsmouth, the island second largest town.
Several adventures await you in the north.
Have you experienced going up river on a canoe? Well,
here lies the opportunity to do so. Take an hour trip along the Indian
River. The river is surrounded by swamp ferns, mango trees, and you are
most likely to spot birds and iguanas.
The rowboat takes you to the point where you can get off and have a drink from a local bar located on the bank of the river, you will then get ready to head back down stream to your next stop.
CABRITS NATIONAL PARK
There you will find the ruins of Fort Shirley, an 18th
Century British garrison. Scattered along the trails are iron cannons.
Some of the many buildings are still standing.
You will also be a taken away by the awesome view of the Bays. There is also a museum and a visitor centre where you can get more information.
MILTON FALLS
This fall is located on the way up to the islands' tallest
mountain Morne Diablotin, in Syndicate. A casual walk to
the falls takes a mere 20 to 30 minutes, from where the vehicle is parked.
If you feel like taking a swim ,there is a pool at the base of the falls which is about 7 feet deep and is a perfect place for swimming. If you go to the back of the fall you will discover a flow of warm water. A spot for the entire family to enjoy.
The duration of this tour is about 6 - 8 hours.
